As long as it isn’t raining, I try to get out for a walk.  When I have time, I head off the pavements and into the fields by my house.  There are always great views but it does help when it’s sunny…

Did it myself: Rose hip tea

A few years ago now I did a one day “course” on foraging.  It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but then got round to after making that first initial effort.  I think I’ll need to repeat if I’m to do it seriously, and safely, as most of what I learnt that day has disappeared along with a few brain cells.  However, a recent conversation with my mom, reminded me about the rose hip and how it was supposed to be one of the easiest things to forage and to use.  Continue reading “Did it myself: Rose hip tea”

My Sunday Photo: Red(dish) Sky at Night

In my attempts to get fit, I have been walking every day.  This is the view I get to see as I turn the last but one corner back to my house.  I always take a pause…and wish I lived in the farmhouse just to the right so I could have this type of view every morning.

The power of peppermint

I wrote recently about how peppermint tea was one of my favourite things at the moment – the happy result of purchasing a peppermint plant in the spring and my experimenting with what to replace my previous coffee addiction with.
herbal-2561849_1920I through a handful of leaves (preferably the newer ones as these seem to give the best taste) into a teapot, leave it to sit or a few minutes and then pour – using a tea strainer.  So simple.  I love the smell of the tea and the light taste – so much better than store bought teas I’ve tried.  Continue reading “The power of peppermint”
