As I move more and more towards using more natural products, I’ve been trying a lot of different brands. Balance Me is the latest of these. It started when I was sent a sample of their facial oil, which I thought was pretty good, and has continued with my using their Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser for the last month.
Picked because it got good reviews and what it doesn’t contain (parabens, dea, mineral oils, sulphates, pegs, petroleum, silicones, propylene glycol, microbeads, artificial fragrances and colours), I wasn’t sure what to expect after basically using one of two or three of the same cleansers for as long as I can remember. I first came across this post on Natalie the Explorer’s blog and thought it was great. She, and some other bloggers, share their month in a sentence a day. I thought it would be fun to join in, though I’m not that good at limiting my days to just one sentence. It’s good to look back at what I’ve been up to and makes me feel grateful for the good in my life. So, without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to. Continue reading “May in a Sentence a Day”
Going through all my beauty box samples looking at what I am going to keep and which ones I’m not as part of my minimalist challenge, I seem to have collected a fair few lip primers. Collected and never used because I’m not sure what to do with them. So, while I’m asking, “should it stay or should it go?”, I thought I would take a bit of a look and see just what it is and why I should be using it.
When it comes to deodorant, I have to say I’m a bit of a creature of habit. I’d found a brand I like, one with hardly any scent and that doesn’t leave marks on my clothes, years ago and I haven’t even thought of changing it since. However, as part of my minimalist challenge I am trying to make use of the products I have before I go out and buy any more. Which meant trying the Native Unearthed Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant Balm that came with this month’s Birchbox. So I’ve put this post down as a tried and tested but it could just as easily be listed under favourite things because that’s what the LAQA & Co Cheeky Lip Pencils are.
After getting a full sized version of their Cray Cray colour through Birchbox at least a year if not longer ago and finding it the perfect colour for my cheeks (though not my lips), I went to order another as soon as it was done. Unfortunately, the individual product wasn’t in stock so I had to order the trio. Continue reading “Tried & Tested: LAQA & Co Cheeky Lip Pencils”
One of my biggest weaknesses is an inability to not try new things (probably a strength too, if I ignore the strain it can put on my wallet). Another, in order to ease said strain, is loving a bargain. Walking around my local Boots last month, I came upon the perfect storm of a new product range (L;ft) with a third off it’s regular price.
I’d gone in looking for moisturiser from a different brand. I came out with Boots’ L;ft Daily Boosting Day Moisturising Cream. If I ignore the slightly silly name (or spelling of it), I have otherwise been pretty impressed. The cream promises to help me fight the five signs of ageing and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in four weeks. It also promises me that my skin will not only be firmer but glow as well. Continue reading “Tried & Tested: Boots L;ft Daily Boosting Day Moisturising Cream”
So, I am on a bit of a Skin Chemist kick at the moment, having recently started using their facial oil and thanks to a few good deals right after Christmas that let me try a brand I had always fancied but found too expensive. The facial oil was good, though not as good as my usual brand – which I will be returning to – and so is the Bee Venom Day Moisturiser, which promises to keep my skin hydrated and smooth from morning till night.
The bee venom is the bit that got me, I have to admit, with it’s claim to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and that forever chased “more youthful-looking complexion”. Apparently, it tricks the skin into thinking it’s been stung and brings blood to the surface, creating a plumping affect and stimulating collagen production. Because of it though, before you try it you have to do a sample test to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction. That done, you are ready to go.
After a month, here’s what I think… Continue reading “Tried & Tested: Pro-5 Collagen Bee Venom Day Moisturiser”
So I had a bit of a panic this morning. I realised I was out of one of my favourite products – Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer. Panic ensued. My day, I thought, was ruined – in fact, the next three days as that’s how long it will take for me newly ordered bottle to arrive. Thankfully, I then remembered a sample size of the bronzing powder that would see me through. Calm was restored. My day would be o.k.
It made me think, though, just how much I rely on certain products and how many of them are made by Benefit. Time, I thought, for a favourite things post – something I haven’t done in a while – and a bit of a love “letter” to a favourite brand. Continue reading “Favourite things #5: Benefit beauty products”
