Tried & Tested: Caudalie Moisturising Sorbet

Caudalie has long been one of my favourite brands and I have quite a few of their products on the shelves. Their moisturising sorbet is the latest and I’ve been using it for about a month now.  One of the things I love about them is that they are environmentally friendly and use green ingredients as much as they can (perfect for my plan to live a greener life).

The moisturising sorbet, then, is free of everything I’m trying to avoid including parabens, mineral oils, phenoxyethanol, sodium laureth sulfate and phthalates.  It’s also free of animal-derived raw materials.  It’s a cream that changes into a gel as it goes on your face, leaving it soft, hydrated and stronger (meaning less lines and wrinkles after use and in the future – one hopes!).

The cream to gel formula explains it’s slightly strange texture when you put it on your hand but it’s not unpleasant at all and, although I was aware of what it was supposed to be doing, I can’t say it was particularly noticeable.  I did notice a change to my complexion, which definitely looks smoother and less blotchy once I apply it.  That smoothness lasts all day, which is great and my make-up doesn’t seem to slide off either an added benefit.

Another thing I noticed was the lack of any scent. I’m not sure how I feel about this as I like my products to smell nice.  This didn’t smell bad. It just didn’t smell of anything at all, which felt slightly strange.  It’s a small niggle, though, and not something that would stop me buying the sorbet again (the price might as it’s £30 a tube, so I hope I feel rich when it runs out!).

So, in a nutshell…

  • All natural and free of the “bad things” I’m trying to avoid
  • Made a noticeable difference to my skin
  • Feels great going on and that feeling lasts all day
  • Looks good on the shelf with attractive pink packaging

  • The price is high (though it has lasted a month so it might not be too bad if I worked out cost per use)
  • No smell – at all

Not much in the negative column at all, then. I really liked this product and I would definitely buy it again.  Have you used it – what did you think?
