June in a Sentence a Day

sentence a day.jpgI first came across this post on Natalie the Explorer’s blog and thought it was great. She, and some other bloggers, share their month in a sentence a day. I thought it would be fun to join in, though I’m not that good at limiting my days to just one sentence. It’s good to look back at what I’ve been up to and makes me feel grateful for the good in my life. So, without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to.

st: After a long day the day before driving to and from Liverpool to see the Terracotta Warriors, today we didn’t do a lot even though it was still half-term.  A sleep-in, waffles for breakfast and then time at the park before a pub meal.

nd: The last day of my MIL visiting and we went to trampolining (what a surprise) so my daughter could show Gramma her somersaults. We were supposed to head to the marina afterwards but the weather turned chilly so we headed home and watched a movie instead (though I didn’t write down what it was an now I can’t remember – it must have been good!)

rd: My MIL flew home so we had an early trip to the airport. Spent the afternoon at the pool for a birthday party.

th: One last day of the half-her holidays (yes, even though it was a Monday) so went to get mine and my daughter’s hair cut. I have a fringe for the first time in years and – a month later – am still not sure it was the right decision.

th: First day back at school for a very grumpy daughter. Back to work for me and not much else to report.

th: Sign the paperwork to get our garage converted after much faffing about deciding what we wanted to do with it (office, playroom, den?).  Now I can officially get excited, even though we don’t have a start date.

th: Local Labour Party AGM and I got elected as Membership Officer – yay!  Not sure what I’ve let myself in for but am excited to be helping out in an official capacity.

th: TGIF! It feels like it’s been a long week.  Celebrated by doing nothing but drink a glass of wine in the evening and going to be early.

th: Went to a meeting for a community group I’m involved in then did a bit of shopping seeing as I was at the market.

th: Another political day, this time taking part in a local policy forum, before heading home to prepare a presentation for an interview next week.

th: Work, work and a bit more work.

th: More of the same today, making sure everything is done before I take a day off for my interview tomorrow.

th: Drove four hours for an interview then four hours back, mainly thinking about how I don’t want the job.

th: Picked up a friend who has a broken ankle and went for coffee. Had a wonderful catch up – even better because our kids weren’t around to interrupt us.

th: Was offered and turned down the job I’d interviewed for.  It was strangely liberating.  It was a short term contract that I felt would be more work than it was worth.

th: A lazy Saturday doing not much of anything.

th: Father’s Day.  Went to Whitby for fish and chips.

th: Back to the grindstone with work, writing articles for a client on recruitment practices.

th: Another interview, this time for a part-time fixed term contract that seems much more up my street.  Was offered and accepted the job the same day – very happy as this will allow me to keep freelancing and building my business at the same time as getting a guaranteed income every month.

th: Took the cat to the vet after he got into yet another fight.  I am so glad I have pet insurance!

st: Another normal working day, this time working on a grant application for a small start up.

nd: Meeting to discuss my role as Membership Officer and what I need to do to get started.

rd: Took my daughter and her friend trampolining.  Another Saturday spent with a numb bum but so proud of what my little one (or not so little now) is achieving through all her hard work.

th: Equaliteas event to celebrate 90 years since the Representation of the People Act.  A great day and money raised for a good cause. Plus there was cake!

th: School sports day.  It was very, very, hot!

th: Another scorcher of a day – worked in the garden – because when you work for yourself you can 🙂

th: Did the school litter-pick with my daughter and two friends. Rewarded them all (plus myself of course) with ice-cream.

th: Fundraising meeting for the community-group I’m involved in. I hope the grant application we just put in for pays off.

th: Afternoon after school in the park to celebrate the start of the weekend.

th: A busy day to end the month with campaigning, meetings, shopping and then eating.

And that’s it for me for this month. In July, I hope my sentences will be filled with fun holiday days. What about you, what have you been up to?
